Bilateral meeting between Tát & Tokod and Sogn & Fjordane

[5 March 2015] The next bilateral cooperation meeting was held on 5 march as a side event of the C3-8 project’s kick-off meeting in Tat, Hungary. The project leader hosted the event where representative of the County Sogn og Fjordane, representatives of DSB, the REC EEA Grant team and the project partners of the C3-8 project (Municipality of Tat, Municipality of Tokod and Bioforsk) attended.

The mayor of Tat made a warm welcome to the participants which was followed by a detailed presentation about flood, precipitation and ground water problems and current management in Tat Municipality. The Norwegian county representative was very much interested in the effects caused by climate change in Tat and talked about the similar problems they also have: too much water in the wrong places, they also expect additional problems caused by the changing climate like landslides, avalanches, storm surges etc. Mrs Orheim explained that the County is planning and working on facing consequences of climate change (CC) since 2006/07 and several preventional measures, activities have been already introduced. The County is supporting municipalities in their activities to include CC in municipal planning. Both the project promoter and the county representative were interested exchanging information on climate change adaptation at local level, for instance sharing the experiences on including CC in long term spatial development plansd on utilizing the mathematical simulation model, which offers a new approach and a novel solution towards precipitation management at the local level.
